Our 35th county
to pray for in South Dakota is Jackson County, with the city of Kadoka
being the county seat. We release the book of Habakkuk to Jackson
County. The name Habakkuk means "Embrace," as this prophet was
"embraced by God" and thus strengthened for his difficult task
of "embracing others" and encouraging them in a time of
national crisis. This book gives the account of a spiritual journey of
one mans' pilgrimage from doubt to worship. Instead of being ruled by worldly
considerations, Habakkuk has fixed his hopes on God, with God being the source
of his strength and joy (3:18-19).
This book shows the heart of the gospel message which is change and transformation demonstrating evangelical renewal. At the center of the change stands this declaration of faith: "the just shall live by his faith" (2:4). Apostle Paul sees this statement as the foundation stone of the gospel of Christ (Roman 1:16-17). Christ is the answer to human needs, including cleansing from sin, relationship with God, and hope for the future.
Perhaps one of the most encouraging answers Habakkuk received from God was: "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14).
The Pine Ridge Reservation encompasses the southern half of Jackson County. Father we pray in Jesus name, for the people of Jackson County and for our Lakota 1st Nation people on the Pine Ridge Reservation. We thank you Father that the people of Jackson County will walk in Your justice and mercy, and "the just will live by faith". They will rejoice in the Lord and will not be moved by circumstances, and walk in Your strength and live by faith-knowlege in You. We thank you Lord, for Your vision that will not tarry but is yet for an appointed time (Habakkuk 2:2-3) even in the midst of difficulties. And that transformation of Your Glory would now permeate the people and land of Jackson County. We release through the Blood and the Light of Jesus Christ, "the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" over Jackson County!
