Our 30th county to pray for in South Dakota is Hanson County, with the city of Alexandria being the county seat. We release the book of Amos to Hanson County. Amos prophesied of the coming judgment upon Israel because of the sinfulness of God's covenant people. Amos means "a burden bearer." There is no question that he was a prophet with a great burden of delivering the word of judgment on a people who had turned their back on God in a time luxury combined with idolatry, injustice, hardness of heart to the poor, and incest.
Amos stresses that righteousness and justice are essential to a healthy
society, as Amos 7:8, compares the Word
of God as a plumb line and the importance of staying in line with His Word.
One of the key verses in this book is: "Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets" (Amos 2:7). It is important to know that even today, God's chooses prophets as His mouthpiece.
Christ's work of restoration is clearly seen at the end of the book of Amos (1:1-9:10), but He will also restore His people (9:11-15). Five promises of restoration are given starting with Amos 9:11, ". . . I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages, I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old." Could this be God's 9-11 answer to the warning of judgment to us even today? That the tabernacle of David, true worship in Spirit and in Truth be restored.
Father we thank you for Hanson County. Father we pray in the name of Jesus, that the people in Hanson County will hear the prophets even today and take the road of Your righteousness and justice and not one of idolatry and injustice. We thank you Lord, that the people of Hanson County will take a righteous stand in living according to Your Word as a plumb line in their lives. And that the tabernacle of David, true worship in You, would be restored all across the land of Hanson County and permeating into the rest of the state of South Dakota. Let the 9-11 warning, be answered by Your true worshipers arising in Hanson County. We release through the Blood and the Light of Jesus Christ, a new sound of Worship across the land of Hanson County!
